Help them…Who Help us : Labor Welfare

Labor welfare may be viewed as a total concept, as a social concept and as a relative concept. Therefore, this implies that a human being needs the setting up of minimum desirable facilities like health, food, clothing, housing, medical assistance, insurance, job security, recreation etc. Labor Welfare also operates, to neutralize the harmful effects of large-scale industrialization and urbanization.

Need for Labor Welfare
Labors help to dig and haul coal from the bowels of the earth, to fetch and refine oil, to build dams and reservation, to lay pipes, canals, lines and roads etc. The wheel of the life, the whole society moves only due to the labor of the workers. If the workers withdraw themselves from the areas in which they are engaged, the movement of the entire society will come to a halt and it would plunge back into the barbaric state in which average life was poor, pasty and brutish. Unless, the workers are maintained in good and healthy conditions and kept in good humor they can't work productively and efficiently.

The maintenance of the welfare of the workers in all aspects for the development of the society is the raison d’etre of labor welfare philosophy and programs.

Labor Welfare in India
In a developing country like India, people expect much from their own government. Till the end of British rule, the Government was concerned only with its primary duties like maintenance of law and order. With the advent of independence, the idea of police state has been replaced by the welfare state. In conformity with the objectives in the Constitution, it is incumbent upon the state to strive for securing to all its citizens, social, justice, economic and political expression, liberty of thought, belief, faith and worship, equality of status and of opportunity and for promoting among them all fraternity, which ensures the individual’s dignity and nation’s unity.

Labor Law
Labor Law is not one legislation. Among the plethora of labor Laws, the significant ones are:-

I.Apprentices Act, 1961: It regulates and controls the training of apprentices in designated trades, and availability of trained technical personnel for the industry.

II. Employees provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act,1952:
This has instituted a compulsory contributory fund for the future of the employee after his retirement or for his/her dependants in his/her early death.

III. Employees’ State Insurance act, 1948: It provides to the workers medical relief, sickness cash benefits, maternity benefits to women workers, pension to the dependant of deceased workers and compensation for fatal and other employment injuries including occupational diseases.

IV. Child Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986: This prohibits the engagement of children in certain occupations and systems, which are proved to be harmful and not safe for child labors and also decides under which conditions child will work in certain other employment.

At the end of entire topic, the bottom line is that there are several laws for labor welfare. But the question is that how much we are concerned about those labors that are helping us in many ways. Are we enough focused to implement the law to come to an act? Are we spreading our helping hands to hold those hands that are always in action to satisfy our need of the life?

Keep Your Eyes on Bull’s Eye

Your suceess is your concentration and your concentration is your achievement

We often notice students with excellent merit can not achieve their targeted goal. Due to this, they become sometimes depressed and often suicidal. Do we ever consider that the reason behind this mountain like problem there sits a scary monster named ‘Lack of Concentration’? It does not only show its influence during the preparation of the study, but also widens its hand when students sit for the examination. Students with lacking concentration most of the times miss out many important parts of the questions, and even forget to write lot of important points which really carry major part to affect their mark sheet. Students with lack of concentration often face the problem of forgetfulness. They think, this is because of the fact that they are loosing their power of memory and consider themselves inferior to others because of the sudden downfall in the graph of their grades.. Many outstanding performers can even get into the category of last bencher.

Now let’s have a detailed pow-wow about the reason behind lack of concentration? Is this problem unsolvable?
No! No room of problem exists in this whole world which has no key to enter.

Who diverts us?
Firstly, we need to divulge the reason behind this lack of concentration that can also be taken as a mind diversion.
1) Today’s life with the advent of technologies we find many more mind diverter around us. Likewise, television, music system etc. are sometimes very much informative, and without any shadow of doubt works as a mind refresher.
Watching TV
On the other hand, to catch student’s eye from the book to the screen of the Plasma or Flatron or to attract examinee’s ears towards the hip shaking beats of the music, these electronic devices are unparallel.

2) Chat over telephone or mobile with friends take not less than several valued hours from the stipulated study schedule.
Phone chatting

3) Last but not the least, computer game or net surfing, both of these are very educative and good in mind power building. But in the time of examination, if we get addicted to it instead of attaching with the course materials then it can be harmful and time waster as well.
Computer Game and Internet

Tips for concentration
Few simple tips for concentrating on the focused goal are: -
i) Deep breathing.
ii) Meditation.
iii) Goal setting and very much focused to hit the bull’s eye without getting diverted.
iv) Make the list of preferences, meaning everything has its own importance.
Concentrate on Concentration

In a nutshell
It is not forbidden for a student to watch television, listening music, playing game in computer, surfing net, chatting with friends. But when examination knocks the door or else study requires your attention more, then you keep your eye on the books firmly, and strictly avoid getting adhered to other preferences. So, it is you who will choose your preferences first. Now decide waht you need the most - today’s few hours of fun or tomorrow’s life long success.
Stay Focused
